"Loiusiana Roots"
Native of New Orleans, Louisiana, where they were known for good food and hospitality. Growing up in the south you had to learn how to cook as a way of survival. As the youngest of 3 girls, I remember standing on a chair learning how to cook with my mother and grandmother. Red Beans and rice were our Monday meals. This tradition was a custom in New Orleans as a way of cleaning house as the beans cooked and simmered for hours. The meals were not complete without jiffy corn bread. Shrimp & Grits were our Sunday-after-church brunch. As a family we would go fishing to spend time together. Bring home the catch of the day, clean and cook dinner, lunch etc.
